According to the website the stock strings on the JP12 are the 'RPS regular Slinky's" w/ an additional .56. Can somebody at EB/MM confirm these are what they're putting on the guitars? I actually really, really dig the strings that came on it.
The place I teach at doesn't carry any RPS (though they seem to have every other kind of EB strings) and actually had to look up what they were.

Edit: I now realize there's an entirely different forum for this. This was confusing though:

"The John Petrucci 7-string guitar now uses Hybrid RPS-9's with an added .56 nickelwound for the low B string. (changed 11/5/07 to RPS-9's and changed back to RPS -10's from 3/11/08-1/10/11)"

But it inadvertently answered my second question, which was whether or not the .56 was nickelwound or if there was just a .56 RPS that I was unaware of.

The RPS sets are identical to the regular sets except that the plain strings have extra winding at the ball end, reinforcing the strings where they most frequently break. "RPS" = "Reinforced Plain Strings"

The Coated Slinkys have the same kind of winding on the plain strings, except it's titanium.

I know what they are, I'm just looking to confirm that's what is being used. The quote came from the sticky in the other forum, but it's a little misleading. Technically it looks like it says JP used the RPS 9's for a year or so, then changed to '10s for three years, then most recently went back to '9s after 1-10-11.

If you look at the artist page on the EB site it has JP listed under both the RPS '10s and 9's, but not under the RPS Hybrid 9s (even though the above said that he was using them at least at one point).

It lists 10s with a 56 on the JP12 page. Well, that's clear as mud then! :)

JP12 being so brand spankin' new, that's probably the most up-to-date info but then again? JP does change gauges from time to time and when he does the production line changes with it, so always take the info that's closest to the DOB of your guitar. Can anybody shed more light than our guessing?
