Hey, I'm new to the forums and picked up my first axis a few years back. Ever since then I've been curious to what kind of a model it was, but after some research I found that the specs didn't match up to that stated on the official website.
The guitar I bought was similar to this one, I paid around 900 euro for it:

MUSICMAN 1998 Axis Sport Vintage Sunburst (316539905) | eBay

The only difference from the one in the link is that mine has 3 seymour duncan pickups installed, and was manufactured in 1993.

Nice- I have the same guitar, but with MM90s.

It's an earlier model, the "Sport", no longer offered. Ash body. As for the SDs, I'm not familiar with the original Axis SSS pickups, but I had thought they were Dimarzio. A few guys here have them, so perhaps somebody can chime in.

I assume the three pickups are all single coils, or two singles and a humbucker? Either way, they are Dimarzios if your guitar is still stock.

^^ I'll second that and also I assume the year of manufacturing is either 97-99 you will have to double check on the dedecated thread for that

And yes we need pictures :)

I'm fairly certain I remember the Axis Sport debuting in late 1997 or early 1998. Is the serial number on that sheet the same as on the guitar? If so, you may have a historic instrument.

Try posting in the "What is the production date of my guitar?" sticky thread.

Congrats and enjoy playing that one. I have HSS Axis Sport from 1998. They are fantastic guitars, especially those single coils!!!

Congrats on a really nice find. I have to agree with TMB here that the date does not make sense. The guitar was not officially changed to the Axis till after 95 when Vanhalen and EB parted ways. So the build sheet having 93 as the year it was made really makes no sense. Run the serial number on the -What Is the Production Date Of My Guitar-sticky at the top of the page to get the correct info.

Sports in that configuration were made between '97 and '99. The pickups should be Dimarzio's, unless they've been changed after production, however I'd guess that they're the original ones.

Nice Guitar!

Thanks for all the replies! I checked the warranty and the serial number wasn't the same as on the guitar. Posted the serial # on the guitar in the 'what is the production date of my guitar?' thread so hopefully I can get further confirmation there!

Alright so the final consensus as to when the guitar was made is 4/16/98. Thanks for the help everyone!
