A problem just arose. I'm going to need a new strap very soon. There's one problem. I HATE cheap straps. I'm a Levy's fan. Although I can't find any more Levy's that are really short. Can anyone tell me a site that sells short straps? Thanks alot guys.

But some straps dont go short enough, i know what he means. My strap only goes to a certain point, where all that is left is the padded part, which cant be adjusted.

Ive used EB straos since I started playing. They work fine and strap length is not an issue.

However, with my pinched nerve in my back, I may have to look for some padded straps soon. I know Dude sells some straps that are supposed to be very comfortable.

For anyone in the UK - contact Mr Natural, Leather and Luggage, Cardiff, UK . Or PM me.
He'll make one for ya, custom made and tooled/embossed with the message of your choice.

He made one for me 30 years ago and it's still going strong (stolen by my bass player now living in Germany who reminds me "How nice it is!")
Damn bass players !!!! LOL!

I dunno about Levys not getting short enough. I've got one that has two holes in the small end of the strap and if I both shorten it all the way and use the upper hole, it's stupid-short...I mean upper horn up around your Adam's apple short. Are you using the strap button slit at the very end of the strap?

I'm 5'7" and wear my bass relatively high (but not quite as high as Jack does)...say with the center of the bass a couple of inches above my belt buckle. That means a pretty short strap. My Levy's has the small end set a bit shorter than the middle of the adjustment range, and I'm using the upper strap button hole.

I didn't at first because I thought the six inches of loose strap flopping around at the tail end looked dorky, but I don't care any more. It's more important to be comfortable. With the tail end set as short as it can go and using the end slit, it doesn't get quite short enough for me. So I just used the other slit and adjusted the length on the "ladder" to suit.

It's a great strap. It's the 2" padded one...don't recall the exact model at the moment. Came with my last bass. I'd kind of like to get the wider one they make, but this one looks like it's going to outlive me, and why spend forty bucks if you don't have to?

Here's the wide one:

Note the two slits in the tail end of the strap...my strap has the same thing, and I think all Levy's that have this basic design do, too.

Here's a trick for dealing with the loose tail-end of the strap if it bothers you...hook both slits onto the strap button and use the resulting loop to hold your cord and keep it from getting yanked out if you step on it. A bit fiddly, but it does work. Personally I don't bother.

You really hold it low bro...Don't you strain your fretting hand like that? I mean, are you able to use the 'eagle-claw' fretting hand position for an hour, or you just pump up root notes?

I really like these straps...

They have them next to Levy's at my local store, and I like them better, the leather is just nicer. I wear my basses high and these can go way too high on me, almost Jack like!!!

I have several of the 70050 model, beautiful hammered pattern, I really like them.

How padded are the straps you use? I'm thinking about getting one like yours.

I have the opposite problem. I've been looking for a nice, padded strap that can go as long as I need it. I'm 6'1" & I like my bass right on my waist.
