Question Strap locks for new JP15-7 that do not require drilling?

Hello,

I just got a JP15 7 string a couple weeks ago, and I absolutely love it. It's my first EBMM and I've really been missing out!

However, I am thinking about getting straplocks (Schaller like on every other guitar I own), but since I have never dropped this much money on an instrument, the thought of unscrewing something scares me, even moreso when I read that the EB strap locks require you to actually drill into a guitar! I never used EB straplocks but everything I read on them says you have to drill and that's an absolute no.

So I am wondering if I can install the Schallers without drilling?

Hello

I have Schallers on my Morse and I did not have to drill.
Another solution is to use the Grolsch beer strap locks :

(the F. brand sells them with the name Strap Blocks : I use these on my Axis and on my AL).

+1 .. I've been using these more & more lately.
You buy a 4 pack of strap locks, and you get free beer!! :)

I'll put in another bump for the Schaller strap locks. I use them on all my guitars and they've been the least bulky and nicest locking that I've used.

I have schallers on all my guitar. You can buy the buttons seperatly. So i have them on all my guitars and then i have a few straps with the locks on it. It is a great system imo.

Schaller user here too and was able to use the factory strap button screw in the schaller button, so no drilling or re-threading was necessary... in all my MM guitars

Locking straps, Planet Waves has had them for a long time and now Ernie Ball has those, too. I agree, I don't like yanking out strap locks in and out from guitars when the locking straps works just fine.

I put EB strap locks on all my guitars, don't remember drilling anything.

Actually they work really well for the Music Man guitars as you can keep them in the case with the strap locks and straps on. Never even have to fuss with it.

Thanks, all! I'm glad that you were able to install EB or Schallers without drilling because that terrifies me! The poly lock is a pretty cool option as well, but I like leather. :)
