I see EB has some of these out now, drats. I have a set of new Shaller's which have yet to be installed. Is there anything I should be weary of? Has anyone put these on, it does not look too tough but I have heard that all stock screw holes were not created equally. Do I need shims and can I still use the plastic washers, comments if anyone has any?
Tks

Since you are a fellow Canadian/Torontonian, I will help.

Stick a wooden toothpick (or 2 if it fits) in the original hole, break the toothpick(s) off flush or a little below the body and screw 'em in. Same deal with EB, Schallers, Dunlop or even just replacing strap pins.

Easy peazy. Should take no more than 5 minutes.

since you haven't installed them yet, I'd try to unload them and get a set of the EBMM. No alterations needed for them.

Are the Ernie Ball Strap Locks now available?

Are links to dealers who have them permitted on this site?

Thanks,

I don't know about the toothpick method. I have Schallers on ALL of my balls, and all I do is replace the screw that comes with the Schallers with screw that was originally attached to the bass. Does anyone else do this too? It works like a charm, with no shims.:D

Yes, but I add a few drops of red Threadlocker. No gettin the straplocks out again, but they will never fail you!

I have been using Schallers, and have always found that the stock screws that come on the bass work fine with them with no mods needed, and you don't have to worry about the screw holes being the wrong size either. Pretty brainless . . .
