strap thing

one of my strap things (the name has lost me) has come loose, and i was wondering if theres a non apoxy or tape way to fix this

What has come loose - the strap button or the screw? If it's the button - tighten the screw (I'm sure you knew that.) If the screw is stripped/loose in the hole, jam a toothpick in there and then put the screw back in.

...or did I completely miss the point?

like hurley said. take out the screw. insert a toothpick. break it so its flush. re-insert screw. if one toothpick does not work, add unscrew and add toothpicks until desired firmness is achieved.

I did it on my F**d*r J*z* B**s with a toothpick and some wood glue and it worked great.

Two strands of insulated copper wire will do the trick also when used as mentioned above.

Yup toothpics or wooden matches will do the trick. It is rare that that happens on EB Basses in my experience. The extra long screws seem to cure that on all the basses I have had.
