I use what I use because that is what I have the most of. Never a dropped bass or guitar while using them.

I've been using Schallers for years now & haven't had any real problems with them. The screw on the upper horn of my Jazz tends to keep coming loose, even when I fill the hole with toothpicks & glue. The screws on my Stingray (the Schaller screws) seem to work just fine. I also haven't had any issues with the nuts on the locks, either. I tighten the crap out of them with a socket wrench.

Can't wait for the new Ernie Ball straplocks!!

I have installed the Dunlops on my AL and I had to file the original screws (not too much on my bench grinder).

I installed something similar to the Dunlops on my Les Paul in the 80's made by Pickboy and they have NEVER come undone.

Figured I'd bump this one up to see if there was any word on the EB straplocks??? I'd sure buy a couple of sets!...Sorry if I missed the answer somewhere else!

Peace,

Interesting, I was just thinking about this thread today when I put Schallers on my 30th. Either EB has switched screws or Schaller has increased the diameter of their hole. The stock screws fit perfectly with the Schaller buttons this time. I have had issues on other EB basses where I had to use the Schaller screws because the EB ones would not fit down into the hole of the button, but not with my 30th.

I'll take a guess and say that the change must have been from Schaller, since I have four MM basses, and they all fit, dating from builds in 2003 to recent . . . . .although all the Schaller straplocks went on within the last 11 months or so . . . . every one with the EBMM screws, and a perfect fit . . . .

I use Dunlops on my SR5, and haven't had any problems so far. As has already been mentioned, my stock screws wouldn't work with the locks. The screws that came from Dunlop were a bit shorter than my stock ones, but should hold up fine for my purposes. No drilling, filling or gluing was needed. I play this bass mostly in a church setting, so there's not too much high-flying action on stage. Just keep one hand on it at all times and it'll never hit the ground unless you go with it. ;)
