Does anyone have a profile shot of them attached to a guitar? I was just wondering how long the complete apparatus is. I've never been a fan of strap locks, but these seem fairly low profile!

The locking mechanism releases by squeezing two sections on the sides of the cap, as opposed to pushing the piston inwards. They also use a nut and washer to clamp to the strap instead of an E clip (aka Oh-Jesus clip).

I've read MANY, MANY debates on other forums arguing which are the preferred straplocks, Dunlop or Schaller, with pros and cons of each, so I'm looking to see if the EB's are the best of both worlds.

Ok, so the lock is less likely to be released accidentally by hitting/pressing it. That's an improvement over Dunlop. But what's the complaint about the "E" clip (I thought it was called a "C" clip)? The nut and washer fastening method on the Schallers was one of the biggest complaints, with it coming loose over time (of course, Loctite will solve that). The "C" clip on the Dunlops has never loosened, or cause me any concern, and no Loctite required.

Sometimes the strap is too thick to easily fit the clip on the lock - clamping the strap in a vise for a bit can help, but a nut really can clamp down on it. I don't know the size of the washer on the EB strap lock, assuming there is one, but clamping two nickels back to back on each side of the strap, using a vise grip, does a great job of compressing the leather enough to get a bite on the threads, at least on the Schallers.

Thanks Pete, got them Tuesday, they work great! The screws that come with the locks are actually shorter then the screws in the Petrucci's... found that a lil interesting. And yes you can use the screws in the Petrucci, they are the same diameter, just longer, which i like.

I finally got a pair of EB strap locks about a week ago. They are really nice.

My brother put bass strings on his Xmas list but nothing else - for a musician he isn't very creative. Since he likes another brand of strings (he's incorrigible) , I decided to get him a pair of EB strap locks to round out his gift. [ I kid about my bro, we get along great. He really is a cool guy and a damn good bass player. ]

Well, when I was buying the stuff on-line, I figured well I might as well get myself a pair too. I got the black ones and they match really well with the Vintage Sunburst - I like it better than the nickel ones. I didn't realize that you could wear your guitar strap without the locks too, so thats cool, I don't necessarily need them if I am sitting on my couch. But they are really easy to use and really secure - I don't have to sweat dropping my guitar.

I saw Spinal Tap at a charity event last year, and 'Derek' dropped his bass with a loud crash during one of their songs. You guys should send him a set.
