The locking mechanism releases by squeezing two sections on the sides of the cap, as opposed to pushing the piston inwards. They also use a nut and washer to clamp to the strap instead of an E clip (aka Oh-Jesus clip).
The only issue I have had with the clips is when using a strap that has thick ends. Sometimes the strap is too thick to easily fit the clip on the lock - clamping the strap in a vise for a bit can help, but a nut really can clamp down on it. I've never had a nut loosen on me, but then again I tighten them until they strip and then I back off half a turn![]()
