I just had to use that title for my first post...
I've been getting a little impatient waiting for my new Silo Spec to arrive after being thoroughly convinced by this forum alone that I had to have one. [I've been playing for 15 years and have no idea why I never considered an EBMM until recently]. So I stopped by my local shop today to check out some JP's and Axis to get an idea of quality/fit/finish/etc and came across an Axis SS that just spoke to me. The color isn't what I usually prefer (blueburst over quilt), the neck woods aren't what I would normally look at (maple/maple), and the distance between the body and strings is greater than I'm used to..... but this guitar just sounded so right. It literally said "forget what you're used to and go with what surprises you". Ok, it was the sales guy that said that, but he was on to something. So I asked him if he would consider an '06 PRS CU22 as a trade. He said he could probably work something out, but I won't be back until tomorrow. So here's my question...
What would you consider a fair street price for an ASS, non-piezo, matching headstock? They are asking $<street price edit: arin>, but they typically have higher store prices than most, and I know I can get a better price than that. I'm just looking for a reference point for value, because the current attainable street value is probably closer to $<street price edit: arin> for my PRS.
