Hi all,

I am interested in how often others change their strings and what criteria they use to make that decision. Back in the day when i was a kid gigging 3 -4 days a week, I would change strings pretty often, usually about once a month because I liked the ring of new strings.

Now, I am more interested in the wamth of older strings, so now I only change them a couple times a year.

How about the rest of you?

I change pretty infrequently. I'm not a gigging dude, and I have a life-consuming day job. So, that doesn't leave me a heck of a lot of time to play what with all my other interests (including sleep). I rarely break a string, and I'll only change when that happens. I still love my EBMM guitars, though.

. . . . . the warmth of old strings". I hate to tell you this, but that ain't warmth, it's "deadness". lol, lol, lol It hasn't changed since you were a kid.

New fresh strings, EBMM #2253 (the absolute BEST out there for pure vibrant warmth!) are where it's at, and exactly what your guitar is thirsting for when your playing!!

With my primary guitar (the luke) I change them once a week which gets me through 2 gigs,1 rehearsal and a few hours of home practice. If I have more than 2 shows that week I'll change them after the first 2 gigs.On my backup (the silo) I change them when they get grungy or dead-sounding.

In a perfect world i'd have new strings every gig!!!
But it's pretty much the same boat as Colin or gtrman66... approx 2-3 gigs, which could be 1-2 weeks depending on work load.

On my strays I don't change as often as other guitars I like on strata when the strings are a little older but on other guitars I change them like every other week. Unless it's
Summer time and real hot it's seems I change them more often.

I love fresh new strings, of course when they are properly stretched and a bit broken in. I dont gig now as I work and study full time, but its probably every month at this point. If I played more often which I wish I could, I would change the strings more often as well. I'm liking the Titanium Coated Slinkys at the moment, but the pure nickel slinkys also sound great.

I change mine out as soon as the strings start to loose there brightness. With the D' Addario's' it used to be around every 3 months but then their quality went down hill to about every 2 weeks. I switched back to Ernie Ball and have not had to change strings on my basses since April.
