Hey all,
I just picked up a silhouette bass which I'm really enjoying. I have it strung with the lower E-E tuning but my 0.20w high E keeps breaking when I tune it up to pitch. I've broken two so far. I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

uh...me thinks that's way to much tension for that set of strings.
I'm sure someone will be along with the proper info shortly though.

Just a thought, but are you tuning the low E string to the same octave as a 4 string bass? If not, that's where it should be.

If you tune it to the same octave as a regular guitar I can see the 20w breaking.

The Silhouette Bass I have here is tuned A-a and uses the purple pack that Jodi posted, but I will be trying it out E-e soon enough.

2 Petes with Silo Basses in one thread

Maybe, just maybe, he has the nut cut for the A-A set and when trying to fit the E-E set that is why it breaks. Just maybe. Or he may not be tuning it correctly.
