hey what gauges do you guys recommend for me to put on my Ray for DGCF and CGCF? i currently have Power slinky's on mine for E standard. i need gauges that feel tight because of my aggressive pick attack.
Just a heads up, but you probably already know this...you'll have to order singles in order to make your set since Power Slinky Bass are the biggest gauge offered. I'll see if I can do some calcs to get you the gauges needed to be at the same tensions for that tuning.
Here's a set based on similar tensions without going too crazy. This will be the most similar if you're buying singles.
125, 100, 80, 60
The PO's are 1625, 1697, 1680, 1660.
I put the 125 in there as a happy medium between the two tunings you'd be using for the biggest string.
No problem. Yes, Ernie Ball carries all of these singles.![]()
I'm not so sure I would use a 65 for that. It's gonna have a lot of tension! I'm sure you can order them online from musicians friend or guitar center. By the way, I checked the prices and musicians friend was cheaper and had free shipping too. It should only cost about $23 for the full set..
I would say try detuning your power slinkys down to the tuning you're interested in to see how you like the 55 and 75. Strings of a given gauge will be the same "feel" regardless of what pack they are in. In other words, and 75 EB single is exactly the same as a 75 in a pack of power slinkys. Try that first and let me know what you think.
Great to hear! Only two more strings to go! I'd say trying a 95 or 100 and a 125 would be the way to complete this set. You might want to consider buying a set of super slinky bass 5 sets and just toss the 40. That way you can try out a 60 too. Hope this helps...
