String mutes

I just bought a stingray classic and I was wondering how to use and remove the string mutes.

to use them, you simply turn the thumb screws behind the mutes to raise/lower each of the mutes.
I would not remove them, they are unique and a key feature of the classic series.

Remove the thumb-screws completely, then slide the whole assembly out.

Well first of all they completely shift your
scale length and intonation, so you gotta
remove the frets ....

Or you can keep the frets and remove
mutes [as described in a post above].
