Question String nut mod for Power Slinky's?

Since I started playing bass some months ago I felt the need to get thicker strings on my Silhouette. My hands got a lot stronger and Regular Slinky's now feel like elastics too me.

I'd like to put a set of Power Slinky's on my Silhouette, but don't want to ruin the string nut. Is it possible, without modification to put Power Slinky's on a Silhouette (2001 model, so no compensated nut) ?

I think rather than your fingers getting stronger they are just getting used to the larger diameter string, giving that impression of strength. Unless, that is, you are "bending" the bass strings.

Either way, it shouldn't really hurt the nut by using larger strings on the silo,
unless you want to get super technical with related issues.

It should be fine and rest ok in the string cradle without any nut buss, intonation issues, etc. . .

Are these 11-48? You shouldn't have a problem if that's the case. If they were 13s, you may need to widen the nut.

YA going up to 11's should be fine. It's worked for me w/ no problems.

I went to 11-54s on my sub and destroyed the nut. You will want to widen them if you're going to use the thicker strings (IE dropped tunings). But for the powers' you should be just fine.

Update: I've put a set of Power Slinky's on my Silo. Fit perfectly, feel perfect, sound perfect! I didnt' need to mod anything (thank God)
