Hi Ed!

Just to have another point of reference:
What bassguitar did you use for those samples?

Does the coating fray due to extensive pick use?

I play 80% pickstyle and had some issues in the past with ....well ...another brand (well known for their coatet strings )

To answer some questions - the samples were recorded on a Big Al using the middle pickup in passive mode.

The EB coated strings will not fray from extensive picking like that other brand - they are built differently. The others - "brand X" are coated after the string is wound so you have coating over the entire string. It eventually frays, but at least it kills your tone in the mean time :(

I find the EB coated strings are almost identical to the non-coated, just a little warmer. Kind of like where a set of nickels end up after a couple of days, except they stay that way for a long time.

Thanks Ed!

Can anyone tell me why I just bought 4 Sets of uncoated Slinkys. It takes me almost a year to use them up.

I've really got to work on my timing.
