*Firstly, yes I know there have been threads about this! Bu they've all been so inconclusive they weren't that much help*

I play a 'ray HH and I play all kinds of rock, from classic to punk, hard rock, grunge and sometimes I touch on metal. I've had my stingray for about a year now. When I bought it had super slinky's on. Then when I waned to learn how to slap I put a set of d'addario flex steels on. Don't get me wrong, for slapping I don't think there's a better set of strings, but there's way too much zing. I play through a transparent amp rig, but I can warm things up with my head (Markbass LM Tube). I want something that will sound great for rock, I want to lose that zing while keeping the high end clarity and add some real thump.

Looking at other threads one set that appeals is the Ken Smith Rockmasters. I'd rather not pay £40 for a set of DR strings, but if it's unanimous I suppose I'll have to. Thanks for taking the time to read this, all thoughs an suggestions welcome :D

Welcome! Great to have a Scouser close to where I live!

I'd try EB Slinkys. They aren't overly aggressive in the high end and will tame down after a few weeks. :)

Technically just outside, but good to find someone else from the north west! Would you go for the super slinky's or hybrid slinky's?

I prefer the regular Slinkys over the Super Slinkys. A bit fatter tone, especially on the G string.

Slinky's are perfect on a stingray in my opinion, buth this is a ebmm forum so most people might recomend them :) ive tried different brands and now for the last two years i dont bother buying annything else annymore. All 4 of my ebmm basses have got slinkys on em, i might try a thicker gauge in the future but thats about it.

Just discovered a pack of nickel super slinky's I didn't know I had. So these will be going on, though I think in future I might go with hybrids. Apparently they handle tuning down better.

EB Flats IMHO. It's what I use in a fingerstyle rock/classic/punk (or anything I play) setting. I dislike the "zing" as you put it and would always hate having to change my roundwounds, since they were so bright for a bit.
