I was excited to change the strings on my used sterling bass to Ernie Ball super slinkys like i use on some of my other basses.
So i changed them out, and went to my sat. night jam session and thought wow, what happened to my sound? I was pretty bummed. The low E and A sounded OK ,but the D and G had alot lower volume than the strings i replaced these with.(which i really liked on this bass) but have no idea on the brand, they were round wounds with black thread on the tuner side.
They are pretty close in guage about 100-105's ,could the EB's have been old? Any ideas?
I have changed them once again to DR 105 fat beams MM's and have got the sound/volume back.
