Strings going sharp

Just picked up a used mint Axis (translucent purple). I've adjusted the neck for action and a small amount of relief. I've noticed that after about 2 days, the tuning goes a little sharp. I've experimented ... tuned, then left alone, then check out the tuning in a couple of days.

I've put on new Slinky's (.09) and stretched them a bit to break them in, they've been on for about 2 weeks now, and tuned down flat (working on some Van Halen stuff). The Floyd is tightly resting on the body.

The Axis came from the Midwest, and I live about 5 miles from the beach on the West Coast.

So, anyone have any ideas on why my strings are going sharp after a few days?
Is it the neck trying to straighten out and accomodate to the new climate?
I've adjusted the neck about a week prior to experimenting above.

Any ideas on why or solutions would be really helpful.

BTW, I'm tuning with a PODxt. It goes sharp just a little, basically a little outside of the brackets graphics.

All my oil/wax neck guitars do this... Morse, Wolfgang, Stingrays. I have no idea why this happens. My Ibanez Jem, Gamble & Universe dont. Weird.

Check the relief when it goes sharp. If there is less, it's just the neck adjusting to temp. etc.

Yeah, a bunch of my guitars that I notice go sharp awhiles after tuned. These seem to be the fenders and EBMM's. I notice this cause I use these mostly. On the other hand, the gibsons go flat. Nothing to worry about.

i know that when i'm on a gig and i tuneup under some hot lights..& i've physically warmed up the guitar....& then fine tune it.....then play a set.....then hang the guitar on its stand & go on break as the lights are down & the ac cools the guitar down....it goes sharp. it took me forever to learn to warm it back up before fine tuning it again..... kinda like the tuning yoyo effect !!!!!

I find it so wonderful and intriguing how almost lifelike these guitars can be, reacting to weather, climate oh and stray dogs

Well I'm glad to hear others are experiencing the same thing ... it must be the bare wood 'breathing'.

On a side note, after playing the bare/oiled/waxed neck on the Axis, I find the clear-coated neck on my Kramer to be 'sticky' and not as fast. I'm now thinking about selling the Kramer and getting another Axis or other EBMM axe ... I'm now sold on EBMM's!

NOT funny.......he is not a stray......not yet anyways.......hehehehheeheh
