Can anyone tell me what strings (apart from Ernie Balls) will fit through the bridge of my Axis Super Sport. I have the Trem version with piezo. I tried to fit a set of Rotosounds recently but the brass drum on the end of the string is too big to fit comfortably into the hole, at least not without forcing it. Is it some kind of marketing strategy to make the holes so that only EB strings will fit ?

I think it's safe to say that Fender Bullet strings would fit... And I've used D'Addario .0095 - .044 sets in my Axis before...

You better find a tech, don't mess with piezo bridges! I use the thickest wound strings I kin find, and have had no such problem on MusicMan guitars. I would say you definately have a problem.

I'm not referring to the thickness/guage of the string, but the size of the drum/ball/bullet on the end. I just found that the brass 'cylinder' on the rotosounds were to big and got stuck at the top of the hole. That is until tensioning the string when it reluctantly went in. Had to force it out with a bit of tough wire though when removing them.

Cheers

You could try sizing it out with a drill bit I guess. Never known any ball-ends for guitar strings to be of anything other than the same size. I thought rotosound only made bass strings?Of course bass trings' ball ends are larger.

Thanks for the suggestion Ebb, but before I attack my beloved axe with a drill bit I'll try a few other brands. I don't have a problem with EB strings at all, just would like to try it with different brands.
Jimi D mentioned that d'Addario's and Fender bullets are no problem, so I'll start there. (Cheers Jimi) . Rotosounds are a popular brand over here (UK) for both guitar and bass..(just a shame they don't fit ;^)

Just wondered if anyone else had had any problems so I knew which brands NOT to try ;)
