I searched, but wasn't able to find the answer. When did MM stop putting strings through the body? Or were there only certain models? I noticed that some (not all) of the 30th anniversary basses have the string throughs.

I was in the studio the other day and the owner/engineer commented that Stingrays haven't sounded the same since they changed. Anyone have a comment?

Thanks

I believe that all 30th's are string through. This being one of the main features that makes it different. But I could be wrong....wouldn't be the first time!

Never seen a 30th that was not. It is an advertised feature of the 30th from the brochure.

Sorry, mistaken. I was looking at a non 30th.

All other questions are still on the table though.

Well, I have heard this same thing about every bass I have ever used in a studio.

With the exception of a Fender.

It seems that engineers have something negative to say about any other brand.

I think it boils down to laziness on the part of the engineer.

They REALLY get their knickers in a twist when I bring out the 8-stringer! :D
