Help! Strings

Hey guys. buying some new strings for my 5 bongo which i just got because the ones that came with it are giving a strange buzz from the bridge when i pull to hard. My bass teacher says its a tension issue with the low gauge strings. So know im looking at a couple of options. Power Slinkys, 5 string flats or super slinkys. I was considering flatwounds because even though I play prog metal the string clank and trebly nature of the bongo can annoy me sometimes. How to the flats hold up in a metal mix and do they retain their tone for long? Also action is a big deal for me I like it low ( hence the super slinkys) Thoughts?

Flats are what I use on my Bongo, they're punchy deep and clear. There are times when I need to use rounds to fit the gig, so I'll use Power Slinkys. The Power Slinks, have a nice firm feel to them, and are really "meaty" sounding. They're not your typical nickel round wound. If you can swing it, get a set of Power Slinkys and EB Group III flats.........it's time to experiment!
