Guys, I'm having a very difficult time making my mind up over a color. I can either get the JP6 BFR in bahama blue flame or in walnut flame?? I have an axis in tobacco sunburst, so thats making me lean towards the bahama blue just to add more variety. I feel like the walnut is just a browner version of tobacco. BUT the walnut is selling for $300 less....HELP ME DECIDE!!!!

Also, here are two pictures I took today of my axis...

also just to clarify...the quilt is the more swirly type pattern and the flame is the straight line pattern, right?

Both finishes are great ... depends on your preferences. (Lot's of help, aren't I?)

Personally, I'd wait another 5 or 6 days for any NAMM announcements that might give you more options.

Yes, quilt is the "swirly" pattern and flame is the "straight" kind of pattern. I'd go blue, personally. Bahama Blue is just sick, but you need to luck out on a top to make it really kick you in the face.

I'd go the Bahama Blueburst. Should you decide to part with it later, resale prospect would be greater for BB than walnut, IMHO.

I thought the JPX was the only announcement regarding the petrucci models. Is there more???

I know it wasn't one of the options provided, but in all honesty, I like the trans-black the best on that particular model.

I'd choose the Bahama blue one.
But, seriously, check out both of them, which feels better, pick that one!

Wow, gorgeous.

Can you play either before you buy? One might feel better to you, since each is always a little different.

But ya, on the colour, it's nice to have variety, and you've already got a brown
'burst, so I'd go blue as well.

First off.....great looking ASS. Love tobacco burst on the Axis SS.

Of the 2 colours you gave, I prefer the Bahama Blue. Are you trying to choose between those 2 colours cause they are the ones in stock? IMHO I try not to choose colours based on price difference or what a dealer has in stock. Cause I feel if you are settling for a certain colour, you will probably regret it later. When you are putting out hard earned money it's better to get exactly what you want.

Like a lot of us here, a difference of $300 is a big deal. But if you like the more expensive guitar try to find a way to make up the difference. Talk to the dealer. See if you can work out a better deal or even put the difference on a credit card, or ask to put the guitar on layaway until you make up the difference.

Back to colour choice....have you thought about ordering exactly what you want. I don't think the wait times are too long. Because if you were to order one you could look at black burst or cherry burst (which I think is a great colour).

The flame was always a truly classic finish and will always be a classic.
For me it would have to be the walnut flame - so as you can see everybody has his own opinion about what looks the best - it's for you to decide.

I'm leaning towards the bahama blue flame. It just looks incredible. here are some pictures of both colors(please keep in mind that NEITHER of these specific guitars will be the one I'm getting, these are just sample pics):

I'm a little concerned because I hear that these BFR finishes tend to vary from guitar to guitar. So its possible to get stuck with a poor finish. I think the bahama blue looks outstanding in these pics, but what if my bahama blue comes out looking a lot darker and muddled? the walnut by comparison in this pic looks rather plain....how sure can I be that the bahama blue I order will look like the one here??

To be honest, you get what you get. If you want to be absolutely sure, try and find one instead of ordering one.

Flash & outdoor pics always exaggerate this colour heaps.

After seeing all of the online pics, I got a surprise when my BBB JP arrived.

It's really quite dark - under normal / low lighting it can look almost black :

But put some decent lighting on it and wow :

Still a great colour though.

You dickhead :D
