Do you have to unplug the jack when not in use. not to use up the battery.....say like a DI Box?

It is a good idea to unplug the guitar when not in use. The voltage needed to run the silent circuit
is not much and your battery should stay good for a long while. However when plugged in the the silent circuit is activated and will drain the battery.

i feel your pain, i have a pair of emg 81's in my ibanez SC620 so unless i unplug it'll go dead. by the way it was tricky getting a 9 volt battery into that little circle hole they call a control cavity. lol

The rule around here is:
Unplug your guitar when not in use.
The first time some foot dragging musician kicks your cable and yanks your guitar off the stand you will have the same rule in your house as well. Do what ever you want.
