H= humbucking pickup (eg. like the original Stingray pickup)

S = single coil pickup (eg. like a Jazz bass pickup in appearance)

HH = 2 humbucking pickups

HS = one of each

Get ready for an avalanche of replies
- too bad your "dealer" didn't seize the opportunity to properly "show you" the beauty of Music Man basses

Your only real problem is "which configuration of pickups" you want first, second, next etc

The reality of life is that it's not really complete with only one Music Man bass

If I were you (but only You are You :) and had to pick one to start, I'd try one of these new upcoming "Limited Edition" versions with the "HH" (dual humbucker) setup; but if the "Limited Ed." was only available as a 'leftie' in the "H" (single humbucker) setup, I'd grab one for sure and not think twice

Then the job would be "What next?", but at least you'd have one Sting Ray to help you through the sleepless nights

Good Luck in finding a good dealer,
Somebody here on the forum will likely 'POPUP'

A Curse Can Be A Blessing

IIRC, I'm pretty sure that the HH and HS models are not available to order lefty versions at this time. Andrew

isn't that always the way seems a curse sumtimes :(

Don't get too disappointed too quickly ... HHs and HSs are very cool
- but the Music Man Sting Ray with single Humbucker is a true 'legend'
- and besides, you'll be amazed how your playing improves as you search different hand positions, fretting and muting techniques and EQ settings
- these basses are so alive it darn near takes 2 lifetimes to explore their 'secrets'

Have Fun picking and second guessing your favourite colours; and make sure at least one of your future Music Man basses sports a maple fingerboard; and don't forget a fretless version :)

Classic choices !!! Like I said - no way one's enough !!! :)

If you decide on Pacific Blue Burst, Rosewood, Moon, Matching for fretted,
I can assure you Trans Teal goes very fine with a nice Pao Ferro fretless board
and if you want to mix it up, put the Moon pg with the Trans Teal and go with a nice Abalone pg with the Pacific Blue Burst

... and a maple board will grow on you once you play one - possibly with future Pickup configurations - hopefully, eventually you can get a leftie HH or HS

OK - now ya got me - for what I do, I stick with stock factory roundwounds on my SR5s

There's a zillion other katz here with lotz more experience than me who can tell ya all about more choices, depending on what you want, the feel you like, the tones you need, the amps and cabs you use and the environments you play in

The main thing is to
"HAVE A BALL" !!!

does anyone know the avg price for a sr4 with matched headstock , H, 3eq ??and of course coloured pickguard

Shoot you an e-mail to Jack. (bovinehost) He'll take care of you.

On the whole string thing, I just put some TI roundwounds on my SR5 and I love 'em. Going to suck when I have to cough up $50 for another set. :p

Hello? MMBuyer Calling EB Customer Service ???

When I'm "WindowsShopping", I look at the Bass Central website for lots of images and listings of list prices for different options

When you get down to the real dirt, EBMM Customer Service can point you to your nearest dealer
- and there are plenty of helpful katz here on the forum who can make sure you don't have any trouble getting what you need, for a fair price, and with good follow up service ???
- Hello Everybody ???

I found the EBMM Online dealer guide helpful - I dunno about international or cross border shopping
~

Beth here on the forum is always a good source of info
- and lately, my fav dealer recommended I hold off a couple of daze until after NAMM to get a full listing of options, models and the latest prices, including any Limited Ed models and special colours

Are You Excited Yet ???

Hey BOOST There won't be any Special Editions (06) or two pickup SR4. SR5 or Sterlings in our Lefty condition for quite some time, maybe never. :(

BP has made it pretty clear that unless we lefty's band together and create more sales, lefty's may have less and less support from EBMM.

But I do think we'll still be able to order the current lefty offerings, the classic SR4, SR5 and Sterlings. I hope they will still make a few Bongos for us because if I love my Bongo as much as I think I will, I'll be calling Jack for at least two more (a single H and a fretless H/S.)

I hope BP will chime in and let the lefty crowd know for sure what will be offered.

You are catching the bug!

These basses are like lays potato chips... ;)

I own 3 EBMM's

1989 blubst FL SR5
1992 honeyburst SR5
2003 textured graphite SUB5

welcome to the sickness!!!

I rarely talk about my other bass, but still play it: 1985 Gibson Explorer (let the flogging begin!)
