Titled "Ball's Buster", there was a very good review of the Sub 1 in this month's Guitar World. It received the Gold Award for overall value.

Pros - Well crafted, affordable U.S. built guitar; excellent playability and tone.
Con - Single humbucker model offers limited tonal variety.

I liked the final comment on the bottom line:
"Built to dish out abuse as well as take it, this guitar will spank your ass like the welcoming committee at a Skull and Bones initiation ceremony."

I thought that was a good review as well. The only thing that prevents me from buying a Sub1 is the lack of body contours. Other than that its an awesome guitar.

Hey I didn't see this until now...hardy, har, har! You guys like poking fun at me, don't ya...anyway life's funny...I was the class clown for most of my school years, I get the same reaction at work, no matter what friggin city or job I work at (I've had many) and now, on chat boards, where identities could be hidden, I still get razzed :D . Even my kids laugh when I tell them what to do :(

Man I feel your pain!
I'm the "Raz" of Birds And Moons. Not for the same reasons, but still, the butt of many jokes over there.

Consider this virtual support from a persecuted brutha! ;)

I haven't had the chance to play a Petrucci, but I find the Sub1 to be very comfortable to play, even for long periods of time.

Especially when you have that extra counter balance in your rear pocket from buying a Sub1 and not a JP :D

Yup. Actually, Guitars From Maryland - ie. unafilliated to any manufacturer.
It's a pretty cool place if you guys want to pop in and check it out, you're all invited.

It was started as an unofficial replacement for the PRS Forum, but we talk about everything guitars over there. And more :)

There you are code-talking buddy.

Go on, tell them how great BaM really is. Even of I am on there.

By the way, as discussed yesterday, I sold my Pearl Blue JP6 and got a brand spanking new Carbon Blue one with piezo!
