Hi everybody,

I have never owned or even played an EEMM guitar before last week. I have a guitar store that I go to all the time and I have been seeing the guys that work there play a SUB-1 guitar. It seems like everytime I walk in someone that works there is playing it. I decided that if that guitar was what the guys wanted to play (instead of all the Fenders, Gibsons, PRS's, etc) I would give it a try. I could not believe how good this guitar played. I asked some questions about EEMM guitars and was convinced that I had to have one. I went home and traded in my G&L S-500 for this guitar.

With all that said, what do the people in forum have to say about the SUB-1 guitar. Mine is the HH with tremlo (that never gets out of tune).

Thanks, Chris

Dude, congrats, they are great guitars for the $$. But it's EBMM, not EEMM.

There are plenty of forum members that have Sub's and they love them. For example, MikeVT has one and man I'm pretty sure he said he plays it everyday.

Let's see some pictures of that bad boy.

The SUB is a great guitar at any $$. I have the same - HH w/trem. I did swap the neck PU for a Dimarzio Air Norton and my little SUB smokes.

Love it

Yep - I've got a graphite one....HH trem. I love it...it's my knock around guitar. I love the textured finish and painted neck. I never have to worry about dirt or fingerprints, and it plays great. There's no doubt that it's an EBMM...

Welcome to the club, and enjoy!

I've played them in stores and thought that they kicked butt. I really liked the stock pickups, too.. they were hot yet versatile. Good guitar all around.

Thanks for the input

Thanks for the feedback. I love my SUB-1. I am thinking about changing out the pickups. I really don't know to much about humbuckers though. I have always had single coils on my guitars. I play through a Gibson GA-15RV amps and this thing really sound good. Anyway here is my set-up:

SUB-1
EB Volume Pedal
Dunlop Crybaby
Boss Chromatic Tuner
Maxon OD808 Overdrive
Marshall Jackhammer Distortion
Prescription Electronics Vibe Unit
Boss DD-3 Delay
T.C. Electronics Stereo Chorus Pedal
Gibson GA-15RV amp

Though all that and still amazing sound quality.

I suppose I will be looking into another EBMM model before long.

new pups??

Chris B may I suggest spending some time getting to know the guitar a little better before swapping out the pups. Lots of folks want to change out the pups right off the bat, and it could be a premature move. Play the guitar for awhile and check the stock pups out. EBMM pups are pretty good quality.

Just my two cents. ......

I played a SUB1 today, was jamming on it at guitar center on a Boogie. Sounded really great and played pretty nice too. Wasn't quite use to the feel of the neck, I'm use to Ibanez necks and my OLP Jp's neck. Action needed to be set up and so on, but I could tell it'd play like a dream.

Great advice dude. I was bagging my Silo Special pups for about a month after purchase, but then i better understood what you had to play and how you had to play to maximise the pickups potential, and it just takes time. Now i freekin love the pups, they are the best sounding on any EB guitar, and very versatile, perfect mix of single coils and humbucker. Just unbelievable strat-like sounds, kicks my Rory's ass out the door, $4000 difference in price too. The humbucker is great for Van Halen/Satch etc stuff, just not great for really heavy stuff, but i dont play that stuff so i dont care!

Damn I love my Silo special!!!!

Might have to look in to getting a SUB one day too...

I own a black hardtail sub with a black matte pickguard (HH). Love the feel, sound and quality for the price. The pickups are great, actually half the reason I decided to buy it, but I'm gonna try a DiMarzio D-Sonic in the bridge. I have this guitar in Drop-Db.
