Hello,

On the Sub1 guitar, in the middle position, are both humbuckers on? In some of the harmony central reviews, people talk about a "strat" sound in the middle position. I wondered if it has the Petrucci switching going on where the middle position is two parallel singles... Anyone know?

Also, anyone know where I might be able to get one of these with a trem???

Both buckers are on. I would describe the sound as thick but mellow when clean. Nothing single coily about it really. You could wire it up that way I've heard since the pickups have four wires. They are getting harder and harder to find though. I think there was one in the for sale thread at a nice price.

Sub1

The stock pickups which sound great are 4 conductor and can be wired to split.
I did this on one of my subs and it sounds GREAT>
Stock its Front or Back Humbucker or Both.
Check the Sub1 post today a 2 humbucker trem Sub1 in Cinnamon awaits.
Cheers

I'm excited about the Sterlings too, once they are released the reviews should start pouring in.

I will seriously buy a Sterling Silo if they are MUCH better than the old OLPs. Those were awful, but I would love to support the new company (or whatever it officially is) and grab one of the first SILOs since I can't afford a real one...

So, the Sub1 being only assembled in the USA, but uses China parts is ok with you?

Whoa, where'd you get that information? Mind backing it up with some fact please? Here's my take on this subject;

Sub one necks and bodies - you say made in China. Humm... I doubt it bro. But if you actually have proof of this I sure would be interested.

Pickguard - made in China? Humm... I doubt it. Probably made by Chandler Music in CA USA.

Bridgeplate - doesn't seem Chinese to me. But again, if you have proof of this, please illuminate me.

Pickups - I believe I read they were outsourced and I believe it was Korea or Japan - but then again - if you have different info .........

Tuners - maybe. Pots - maybe. Wires - maybe.

Paintjob. I doubt it. Probably painted in SLO CA USA.

Strap buttons - definitely just the same as all the other USA made balls.

Switch - who knows. Could be outsourced in Asia.

Still, I'm all ears for some information and facts about Sub1 production that I don't know.

Thanks.

I don't know, honestly. I was under the impression that the sub1 was a guitar with outsourced parts to lower the costs but assembled in the USA. I sort of remember someone with good authority here saying it. I can't remember who, or what was said specifically. I COULD be wrong though.:p

Edit:

Found it: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/18206-music-man-sub-r-i-p.html

I think I misread BP's comment as he already bought bodies from China and assembled in the USA, rhather than what I think it is now: He doesn't want to have to resort to buying bodies from China. Whoops.. My bad...

Thank you Lionel - As a member of the SubOC I had to defend them, and hope you understand. Didn't want anyone to get the wrong impression of Sub1's.

Indeed, stand firm brother; the Sub is a real gem.

Painted neck, with black faced headstock, sir? That'll be the Sub or BFR, sir
