Sub 1 Tru Oil Neck Project

I deleted my other post and condensed everything for an easier view...
I found a cool Ernie Ball Music Man Sub1 guitar locally on craigslist for dirt cheap 2 weeks ago.
I'm modding it right now, once the pickguard comes in I can put it back together.
They come with a black painted neck, so I sanded it all off except for the headstock and did a gun oil finish...
-Sanded
-Stained
-Sealed
-Gun oil
-Gunstock Wax

Used all Birchwood Casey products and 0000 steel wool in between coats, cost about $15 and I have enough left over for about 10 more necks! Super smooth & fast playing finish....no drag at all.

check it out...before & after shots. The one with the whole guitar has a photoshopped pickguard that I'm still waiting for. Great 2 HB rock guitar. Has locking tuners & trem in a crinkle finish. I relocated the serial # sticker to the neck plate (the 2 first pics are someone elses guitar off Google, I forgot to take pics when I started)

More pics...after 2 coats of stain (diluted 1:3 with water) and 1 coat of sealer.

Next on to tru oil... should darken & amber it up just a bit, hoping for a close match to the new "roasted" look when its done, with less hi gloss. The sealer/filler really popped thå grain nicely!

Awesome work! Threads like this really have me gasing for a Sub1 to mod.

Two questions:
1) What color minwax did you use (American tradition, etc.)?
2) What type of sealer/filler did you use?

No minwax. All Birchwood Casey products.
Used their Rusty Walnut Stain diluted 1 part to 3 parts water, 2 coats.
And their Sealer/Filler.

Nice work! You can add a drop of Vintage Amber Tint STEWMAC.COM : ColorTone Liquid Stains to the True Oil and let it cure, steel wool and repeat a couple of times for the Vintage Amber look. After the 3rd or 4th time the neck will pop out even more. Or you can just leave it as you have done.
It's looks very nice.

Got a question for you: did you apply sealer to the whole neck, or just the headstock? Then tru oil and wax on the neck only, or neck and headstock?

in this order (nothing on painted surface):
-Sanded
-Stained
-Sealed (all sanded wood areas)
-Gun oil
-Gunstock Wax
