Asking for forgiveness isn't all that hard to do. Getting it ,well several books could be written about the mighty small chance of that happening :D

I bought up a SUB 4 from Musician's Friend, and I was hoping it would make a good travel bass. It was a killer deal as it was on clearance, there was free shipping and I had a $150 coupon that was going to expire.

It showed up last Thursday and I am really super happy with how it plays and sounds, and it is really built solid! It's almost too nice to travel with.

I did call customer service today and get a new pickguard coming. The aluminum vibe doesn't work for me to well.

That's great silverburst. Congrats on your new bass. The SUB's are really nice, when it comes to sound, they dont take a backseat to any bass in that price range.... enjoy it!

I think it is Sterling's initials or the initials of one of the founders. I read something about the S.U.B. naming a while ago.

Anyways, I was a Fender and Gibson guy for 20 years until I picked up a cheap SUB last month. Best $400 or so I have ever spent on a bass. It sounds better than any Fender, Gibson or Warwick I have ever played.

I am hooked!

I knew I wasn't nuts!

In the Illustrated Directory of Guitars by Nick Freeth, he states on page 548 that the SUB range's name "is derived from the initials of Sterling Ball, the company's president".

Not that he is right, but I know it was in print somewhere.

"I believe virtually everything I read and that makes me a more selective person".

hello you all sub fanatics ! I think I have kind of a silly question for you guys. I just bought a brand new sub 5 as a second bass and i don't like the tone on G and D strings. the sound is kind of muffed compared to the other 3 strings. It is also misterious because it sounds good when played alone but as soon as i play along with my cd player or with my band, those G and D strings do not have almost any presence. I brought it back to my dealer and he understood very well my concern and he re-adjusted it all by lowering the strings and lifting the pickup just over those 2 strings but i can not hear any difference.
can someone enlight me please ? i still think it is a good bass and i just love the look !
thanks !
