Well i have been offered a SUB bass body for £60, so i thought why not? Sounds reasonable to me! I haven't bought it yet, but in a few weeks i'm planning on buying it and making a bit of a project of it. Obviously i'd like to put original MM parts back on it, but they're pretty hard to come by so that probably won't be the case, though i'm going to keep my eye on ebay as they do come up. The guy has also offered me a basslines pickup for it, so i'll probably take him up on that as i've heard they're pretty nice. Can anybody reccommend me any other good quality parts that i can fit to it? Bridge, preamp/EQ, tuners etc. I want to get the musicman sound back out of it, so that would be pretty cool. I think i'm going to try and get hold of a musicman neck for it though if at all possible, or maybe an OLP...

Sorry if any of the mods don't feel this thread is entirely appropriate, in which case feel free to delete it, i'd just like to restore a musicman to it's former glory, or as close as i can possibly get without breaking the bank :)

Not a clue! Actually that's something i was meaning to ask him, i'd rather like to get that neck back because they're hard to come by...

The MM stripping is a really messed up business, the people doing it make a lot more money and in the end everyone else (the sods buying the parts) is screwed. My advice would be to forget the sub body and keep eyes peeled for a used sub, because smacking all the stuff onto that sub body will set you back more than a used SR4!

That could be true, but it depends how much he's willing to let me have this pickup for, i just want a little project to do, i'll see what happens

Yep, but you still got to find a preamp, and if you want an eb preamp it's gonna cost you a lot, and the same goes for the neck.

So I say, if you are bent on going this way, just find inexpensive stuff to make it work, because restoring the sub will cost too much.

Oh yeah i wasn't going to get an EB preamp unless i could find a cheap one, but i know the neck will cost me about £200 probably, it will probably work out the same as if i bought a used one to be honest...

I've been scanning eBay for SR parts now for almost a year. They're rare and overpriced. If you're not in need of a replacement body for your SUB, then just forget about it.

However, there's a forumite with a SUB that has a crack in the body. He might have very good use for the part...
