Sub Guitar question for you experts

So I'm a bassist but I'm wanting a nice mid price range guitar and I was wondering how the Sub guitars compare to the more expensive musicman's. I'm not real big on the finish but if they are real good quality I might pick one up.

1st it will be the SUB, then a Luke, then a JP, etc etc...

Then one day you'll wake up in the gutter surrounded by Ernie Ball guitars, wondering where the last couple of years.

Man, cigerettes, cocaine etc have got nothing on an Ernie Ball addiction. hehe.

I have played a SUB in a music store, it was a nice guitar, but l didn't play it enough to give a great describtion, but maybe Raz could help you, he has one.

The Sub is the best guitar you hcan buy in that price range... For that price, it definately stands us tot he more expensive counter parts. Great tone, AWESOME playability and I love the finish, personally... no fingerprints or any need to polish.

I picked on up and played it a little for the first time yesterday at Guitarget in Roseville. Man, tough to beat for the price! The finishes are a little weird, but I could get used to them. The neck was awesome, nice and fat enough to provide a good grip, but not like a baseball bat.

The only thing that disappointed me is that the neck is finished. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I love the finished necks on my PRS guitars. But I also dig the naked maple on my EBMM JP so much. I guess I expected them all to be like that.

I was at the Roseville GC yesterday actually. I was checking some bass cabs out and saw some of the sub guitars there. I played a couple and they seemed real nice but I'm not much of a guitarist so its hard for me to compare sometimes.

Like I said, I'd think they'd be hard to beat for the price. There's nothing built in the USA that good for that price.

Don't tell anyone I said that, but I'd grab one of these before a PRS SE guitar!

I promise not to tell the BAM'mers, but this might cost you some hush money Jo (and others) would be mighty disappointed.

The SUB1 is my first foray in the EBMM world, having been primarily a PRS and strat owner to this point. As such, I cannot compare to any of EBMM's more expensive guitars. What I can attest to is a tremendous bang for the buck - great value for a quality instrument. So I would agree that in that price range (6 - 700), a real good value. If you find a blowout (I think GC had one recently), or snag one on the 'bay (as I did), it's a can't miss, IMO.

As you can probably tell, I'm very happy with it.

To me, the painted neck is closer to a "naked maple" neck then anything else due to it's matte finish. I have a couple guitars with painted necks and even gloss finish ones and I like the feel of the matte paint better.
