Question SUB Question

Indeed it has brother.

My single HB hard tail Sub1 has the neck cavity already routed and finished underneath.

fingbeagles - did you pickup that red one on ebay? It went for super cheap. I was going to get it but the bidding ended while I was out on the road at work...so no dice for me.....
 
Yep, the one that Glenn posted in the Ebay sticky, figured it would go for more, shocked I got it at that price, no matter what it was a steal.:D

well, been looking for a SUB on the cheap for awhile, and this one fell into my lap, that is if the seller contacts me, still not a done deal at the moment but if all comes to be................

Will order a new pickguard, and if the body is routed for 2 Hums will take the existing Hum and place it in the neck position drop a D-Sonic in the bridge, install new schaller locking tuners and dome volume and control knobs, will be a fun project and a killer SUB I do bleeb:D:cool:

That is the very basis for my Sub upgrade too; a D Sonic and Schaller tuners.

My Sub is a hard tail, would any of you chaps fit locking tuners simply for string change ease, or just regular tuners as I have no trem? General opinion?

fingbeagles, I do hope the sale goes through. Lovely axe.
 
The standard tuners are very solid, I find they rarely need any tuning, even after excessive string bending madness. Just make sure the screws on the end are nice and tight.
 
I just prefer the schaller tuners for ease of string change and the stability, buyer finally contacted me so SUB will be here soon:D

One final question regarding tuners (and I am splitting hairs with this one), do any of you chaps find locking tuner equipped axes a touch neck heavier? Can you actually tell they weigh a little bit more?
 
I don't notice any additional weight - but I don't have a guit strapped on while standing for long periods of time either. I don't notice any neck dive either.

What you might notice is a little additional sustain. It' my understanding that additional mass on the headstock increases sustain. But it might be so negligable of an increase as to not notice.

I don't think I'd run the bridge pup of a sub 1 in the neck position either. The stock sub 1 bridge pup is an excellent bridge pup and there are so many better choices for a neck pup out there. Like an Air Norton... The sub one bridge pup would be quite bright (trebly) in the neck position IMO. Not as full sounding. Know what I mean?

I hear what you are saying about the PUP but going to give it a go anyways, and if I dont like it i will go from there, never know until you try, just looking forward to the mod and seeing what happens:D
