Hi,

Recently got a Sub1 not too long ago and need to replace the tuners because they are VERY worn out (stripped/chewed up). I've seen how some have bought Schaller Mini Locking tuners from warmoth. If I'm looking at this right, I believe it would be best to get 4 (Left) tuners: Schaller Mini Locking Tuner, Left, Chrome and then 2 (Right) tuners: Schaller Mini Locking Tuner, Right, Chrome ....for the 4x2 headstock that is found on EBMM guitars right? Just wanted to make sure, before I order them. Thanks!

Thats Wierd My Sub hasnt got the Screw Holes in the side :S

no SUB has ;) You have to drill them. If you have a search around here, you'll find loads of info about that. There's a bunch of brothers that have successfully completed the tuner exchange before :)

I too added the Schaller tuners to my Sub. They are a solid upgrade, very nice indeed.

The Sub tuner has two small locating pins which you can't see when they are mounted. They look like this when removed:

The M6 tuner does require a small hole to be drilled. An easy mod, but do take time to measure out and drill accurately.

Stable tuners, quick string changes, and look good when installed:

I knew, I saw somebody doing it and having proper documentation :)

Sticky, do the Schallers cover the locating holes completely?

Yep, they sure do.

It's a very tidy job when the new locking items are in, they look like they were always meant to be there.

That said, the new locating holes lie outside the footprint of the old tuners, so it's a mod you need to commit to.

Going back to standard would leave the small holes showing (not that you would).

Great mod though.

Hey Sticky !

Your SUB is a hardtail SUB ? Because mine has a trem and the tuners are locking tuners (made by EBMM I believe).
By the way, thanks a lot for your explanation and tips ! Very useful :)

SUB hardtails had non-locking tuners and SUB trem models had the locking tuners. They are EBMM-logoed but made by Gotoh - they were an early version of the Magnum locking tuners (the current Gotohs are the "self-locking" style.
