If so, tell us what you've got in there. :)

I was using a FRED for a while and I was really satisfied with it. Recently my music made a change for the heavier side of things and now I'm still trying to determine what is going to work best. I tried a DiMarzio Steve's Special and it was a step in the right direction but still not quite there yet. I'm set to try a Duncan JB with an Alnico 8 magnet (instead of the stock Alnico 5), and also a Duncan Custom 5 or Custom with an Alnico 8 as well.

So what do you people like for bridge buckers in your Subs and Silos?

The PAF Pros havent been used for some time now. Its a Virtual PAF (custom wound) something along those lines. Its a little too thin sounding compared to the Fast Track 1s I have in the middle and neck positions. I am thinking of getting an Air Zone to balance it out and get a thicker tone. This one gets really good reviews the last time I did research. I did have a BREED bridge pup in my old Silo and it sounded really nice. CandidX uses that one and loves it in his Silo Special. I have a Evo2 in the bridge of my Silo 20th, and that thing is very verestile. I do use the volume and tone knobs a lot to get different sounds. Full on it smokes...but then again this is in a Silo 20th with the all mighty Tone Block. I am really wishing for a Silo Special with a tone block one of these days.

Hi,

I am using a SD Custom Custom trembucker in my Silo.
You can split, so you get a single coil sound.
I am using the volume and tone knob frequently and I am very satisfied with the pu.
Very musical, warm, bright if I want to and screaming if it has to be. Suits the guitar very well!

Good luck.

^^ Cool, I was considering a Breed as well, but I'm gonna try the Duncan Custom 5 and the A8 versions of the JB and the Custom first. I'm playing an amp thats very midrange-strong and want a more level (as opposed to mid-dominant) sounding pickup.

Lots of cool variety here!

I'm gonna put an Alnico 5 magnet in my Steve's Special and see what happens. I love making hybrid pickups and swapping magnets. hee hee!

Let me know what happens with that. Apparently if you spin the Steve's Special around it is less bright. Asymmetrical coils.

Dimarzio AT-1 !! RULES for rock.. most recent in my SS and for lead it's perfect.. but it is mid heavy.. however,
If you want a hot rodded PAF which is more balanced, go for a WCR Godwood, Jim will make one in white.. I have one.. amazing and more versatile than the AT1

Yeah, i'm not happy with my bridge pickup in my silo spec....Need something with a bit more bite.
I'm thinking Breed.
GHwelles, you like it?

The Breed is good, it gives a thicker less bright tone. I would not say it has more bite, though.

You guys have interested me in the subject of changing pickups... I like the sound of my stock single coils in Silo Spec, but my bridge hum is okay, but... it could have richer sound.

So I jumped into DiMarzio page and I tell U guys, that don't like the audio samples "sound byte(s)". It's not very objective to put a part of Satriani's or Vai's CD tracks. Their rig is 10x or even 100x bigger/more expensive than mine. And he CD track will be always after mastering... So it doesn't give me a true feeling of how the pickup will sound with my stuff.... Am I right?

I agree. I'd much rather hear a guitar plugged into an amp, dry, no effects, no other instruments or vocals.

I have the Dimarzio AT-1 in the bridge and an Air Norton in the neck and the Area 67 in the middle. Im thinking (when it comes out) Im going to drop in a Dimarzio Liquid Fire (worst name for a pickup ever). It seems to be a refined Air Norton.
