, i think the silo would be the perfect guitar, but realistically speaking, it'll be too much guitar for my level of playing.
It's not more than you need just more than you are use to

well...even though the sub1 is a music man, I don't get the same sense of pleasure playing that neck as I do the higher end models.

Not that it's not a good value for the money, just that it has a completely different vibe.

I sorta see it as
Sub1=Toyota
All other Musicman=Lexus

if that makes any sense.

The whole point of the SUB series is to be a great bang for the buck, and it certainly is! The target market is not people who own multiple MusicMan guitars, it's targeted towards those who have almost, but not quite enough coin to drop to get into the line. Once hooked, they become addicted :D

Big Poppa is in Customer Service...he is currently the number 2 man there, however, he is bucking for promotion to be the main man and get that all so valuable parking spot in the back of the building at SLO and a free lunch at the Firestone Grill with the main man. He can't get that promotion with negative comments on the forum....so, he has to police the board kinda tight....He answers to the owner's son who can be kinda hard on him....so, please, in the future, no corny titles to get his attention....the boss comes on here every now and then.....;)

holy crap norm just looking at those pictures makes me wanna buy them! all three look so great i can only imagine how they play. seriously, a new guitar is basically all i can think about now.
hey beej, looks like you know your wiring, and i like your idea (call me shallow, but i like the look of a toggle better than a 5way for some reason). i always like having lots of options to choose from, so thanks.
and ill make sure i vote once i actually form an opinion:p

I own a SUB-1 and it is my #1 for now. (read below) I also wanted more options so I had the coils split. Now I pull out my tone knob and get a single coil sound. Cost me $25 at my local EBMM dealer.

I have not had any problems with my hand sticking on the neck. I play 4 times a week at church. I also pratice 2-3 hours a day. My SUB-1 just begs to be played.

I started a discussion in this forum about the SUB-1 pickups. I THOUGHT I wanted to change them out. Boy, I'm glad I asked for peoples advice. The SUB-1 has great stock pickups.

I agree with the post above about the SUB-1 getting people into the EBMM world and then getting them to want another one. I am looking at an Axis SS with HH setup. I can't wait until I save enough money to get it.

BTW, I traded in a G&L S-500 for my SUB-1 because the neck felt that good on the SUB-1.

some guitar manufacturers put really average stock pickups in their guitars, EBMM is the only company i've seen that puts GREAT stock pickups in. just amazing. i'll never change any of the stock pickups in my balls, if i ever need a certain sound i'm sure its just a matter of me becoming a better player, cos i'm sure the guitars are way good enough!!!

thanks guys, that is awesome
it sucks that i'll have to wait until atleast september to get it, but now im pretty much decided on the sub1
i was actually looking at aftermarket replacement pups, but its good to know that the sub1s come with splittable humbuckers-guess i wont have to switch em out or anything. im still thinking of different ways to wire it up, i think it will be fun.:D
now that the big things are decided, what do you guys think is the best color combo for the sub? i personally think the metal pickguard looks kinda corny, anyone have pics of different color subs with black pg's?

im also still kinda curious (hopeful?) if there is a possibility of a sub2 or something anytime soon--i can always wait a bit if it means more choices.
