Hi! I've recently purchased a STINGRAY bass, and I'd like to know what is, in your subjective opinion, the best amplifier that I can use with it.

Kind regards from Italy...

Seeing as you're from Italy, and what with all that has been said on the forum recently, and speaking from my own personal experience, I would personally suggest MARKBASS! But then everyone's opinions/tastes are different, everyone has a different sound in their heads with respect to the bass sound they want to reproduce, and seeing as your question has been asked by several people, countless numbers of times, I'd have to say the standard answer will typically tell you to go on over to your local bass emporium and try out as many amps/cabs as your time/wallet allows. Only YOU will know what sounds best to you, and that is the equipment you should buy!
Good luck!

Having just tried out a Sterling thru the tube Markbass head and a 610, I'd give that the big thumbs up! I just wish they made a preamp only or I'd have one...

+1 on the standard answer. If you stick around long enough you'll get just about every possible answer, which leaves you right back where you started.

In seven posts we've already had three amps suggested. I won't waste your time with mine. It works really well for me. But I'm me, and you're you.

I've not seen or heard one, but since Mark Bass seems to be the flavor of the month around here and it's made in Italia to begin with, it seems an obvious choice.

A subjective opinion is the only kind I have!

Congratulations on the Stingray. As has been mentioned already, amps are very personal choices - like boxers or briefs.

Since you're in Italy, it would be a GREAT idea to try the Markbass amplifiers and cabinets. We (the good people of this here forum) had a big party last weekend and the boss (BigPoppa) thoughtfully supplied us with a Markbass rig.

We played it on a smaller stage in a relatively spacious room. It was competing with some loud guitar amps (six or seven, it seemed like at times, heh heh), a dynamic drummer and hundreds of people screaming, "You suck!" (Okay, just kidding about that last bit.) The Markbass rig consisted of the MB Little Mark II, 500 watts, and the traveler series cabinets, a 2-10 and a 1-15. It was punchy, clear and powerful enough to never get lost in the mix. Being careful and considerate, I played it at a reasonable volume (and all my notes were tasteful), but I also saw/heard the amp and cabinets pushed to rather more pressurized volumes and it still performed like a champ.

The next evening, we played it on a much bigger stage:

And to a much bigger room:

You can see there was an Ampeg rig up there. I used the Markbass rig described above and never thought, "Hmm, maybe the Ampeg would be better." The Markbass did the job, even when I cranked the stage volume so I could hear myself over a terribly excited young drummer.

"Your tone" is not "my tone" so you need to listen critically before taking what any of us say as gospel, but you definitely should give the Markbass equipment a test drive. I think you'll be impressed!

Jack

Stingray & Gallien Krueger = awesome tone

I agree!! I love my Stingray running through my GK rig. It's also very obvious that the Markbass equipment is fantastic...I'll recommend that right along with GK even though I've never even heard a Markbass rig in person.

Mesa Boogie Bass 400 (+). This is the amp that pounds your audience in the chest, and sends full stack guitarists crying home to momma. MM's sound great through it.

I bought a new rig recently, although I don't have my first EBMM yet (and have therefore not played an EBMM through it). Based on my research, I narrowed my choice down to Eden or MarkBass and chose the Eden rig.
