well, i ordered some gear yesterday, so just to wrap up this thread...

what i DIDN'T go with were any of the Line 6 products, although they were my primary choice. the eBay auctions weren't panning out, and although some auctions were reasonable, i was fearing the dreaded customs fees i'd be charged once the thing arrived. shipping an item from US to Canada, especially when that item is made overseas, always has a mysterious extra charge associated with it.

instead, i went with a product NOT on my orginal list: the SamsAmp Bass Driver DI programmable

It'll address my rehearsal needs, it's relatively inexpensive, rave reviews, and made in the US, so no (or little) customs fees attached.

It doesn't address my practice needs obviously, so I still might pick up the StealthPlug, given the firsthand feedback I've received in this thread

Thanks all for your 0.02

I have got a Korg PX4b "Pandoras Box". It has traveled the US with me for "playing with myself". Lots of fun effects (that don't sound great) and it has an input for you MP3 or CD player. It has lots of built in drum loop and does do some phrase sampling though I never use that part.

The headphone amp is adequate but not great. Its not perfect but it is one device that I probably would replace if it were lost or stolen. Also I think they cut the price like in half since I bought mine a couple years ago.
