I think the 'burst EVHs are actually very common... Of the three EVHs I've played, two have been sunburst models...

I think the biggest reason people sell their EVH's is they need the dough-re-mi.
Second biggest reason is probably they don't play the guitar anymore and they can't see it going to waste just sitting around, gathering dust.

I love how alot of these EVH auctions mention the 'cheap Axis copies' .

Yeah gotta love that, it's pretty much the same guitar, if not better.

Wasn't the EVH going to be released as the Axis, but Ed saw the body design, and wanted it for his guitar. Cause l remember reading that Albert Lee tried a Axis and wanted the guitar shape for his signiture Ernie Ball. Any truth to this??

My understanding is that Ed drew up the EVH/Axis shape. The Albert Lee model (with its current shape) used to be called the Axis - maybe that's what you're thinking of.

ratter's got it... The Albert Lee was originally dubbed the Axis when first designed, but didn't go into production. Sterling gave one of the proto's to Albert for a Christmas gift one year, then Paul McCartney saw it and had them make him a lefty version... six or seven years later, they decided to start producing it as the Albert Lee signature model... That meant the Axis name was free, and since Eddie was pissing off to Peavey anyway... well, the rest is history... ;)

Thanks for clearing that up, l've heard mixed storys, but didn't know which one was true.

Scott.
