man the stones sure sucked big time


the production was crap-tacular with a poor audio feed. Did they even use compressor/limiters?


shame how a group of talented artists (including the production crew) can blow at times
 
I wouldn't blame the Stones.

That was the worst live mix I've ever heard. Now, I realize that it's a stadium (but the Stones are used to playing those..) and there's only a ridiculously small window of time to get up and running.. BUT

The folks in charge of the audio just did a crappy job. I don't know how the band managed to stick it out for 3 songs or so.. I couldn't have gotten thru one song with such a bad mix.

Wow that Charlie layed it down..jeez darell is really challenged...Keith and Ronnie are rocksteady and Mick looks good in girls jeans

dont blame the sound man and dont expect steely dan from the stones...

Enjoy the ride and vibe with the stones just dont listen too hard.

I thought they sounded exactly like I thought they would sound, having seen them a number of times, ranging back to the early 70s.

I never saw them on purpose, either - industry types calling me up, "Want to see the Stones?"

Being a Beatles guy, well.....wait, it's free? And I get backstage passes?

This is what getting older does for you...you have the ability to say "No."

I saw some commercials leading up to the Superbowl in which I was almost sure I saw Keef playing a Silo. I thought that was purdy cool.

DJ is a very nice guy. I met him years ago out in the high desert when my best friend was working with Daniel Lanois. Had no idea who he was other than Dan's pal, also a bassist so how could we not get along? The next day I was informed that he was DJ, bassist for the Stones and a million other people. Frankly, I'm glad I didn't know. I hate being star-struck.

Seeing the Stones on Sunday reminded me of how good McCartney was.

BP, I never expect Steely Dan. Although it would be nice to not expect them and then get them, eh?

I was watching TV the other day and was flicking through the channels and saw Stones doing a Muddy Waters tribute concert. It was cool to see Ronnie and keith playing musicman guitars. Silhouettes ?

looked like from the 90's

wasn't there a Keith Richards autographed silo auction for Casey Ball foundation awhile back?

When is too old too old?

Now, I have never been a Stones fan. Some of their songs are cool, but I have NEVER seen a band more dishambled as them live. Every concert I have seen, DVD, live feed, VCR...anything...has led me to belive they are one of the sloppiest bands ever.

God bless that they use EB strings...but they need SO MUCH MORE help than good strings. Sound guys fault....yeah..he/she had a hand in the feed, but you can't turn straw into gold, no matter how talented a sound person you are.

They need to retire and stop embarassing people, audiences included.
 
IMO the Rolling Stones should have quit in 1969 when Brian Jones died. He was the only really creative musician in that band (orchestrations, unusual instruments, much more progressive writing, etc). Everything since just sounds like a rehash of what came before.

They're definitely a piece of history and I would go to see them based only on that fact if the opportunity arose.

Stones - I got what I expected and enjoyed it for what it's worth.

Guy at our Super Bowl party looked over at my Guitar-player buddy and me and said "Hey, that could be you guys!", to which I replied "Yeah, and we've got another 20 or so years to get there!" ;)
