Lou, you bought the Cherry Burst?!?!? It looks amazing.

I had to make a last minute decision as to whether to go to GC or an all expenses paid dinner at Morton's.

In the end I couldn't pass up the option to spend hundreds of dollars of someone elses money on steak and wine at my favorite restaurant.:D I guess I'm a greedy opportunistic mutant.

This was a fantastic event and everything really fell into place for me and my son who stuck it out till we left at after midnight. It started with me finding a parking spot on the street!! A couple hundred yards from GC. I had not been to the Boston GC before and the selection of all guitars....but especially Musicman was phenominal. That spalted maple JP.....just wow. Lou's new JP.....I can say that it is THE nicest looking guitar I've ever seen!

We arrived around 4:15 and played around with a silo for a bit. We then went into the premium room where I found another silo to try out. In walks in JP for an interview and photo session and we were cleared out. Shortly after, BP arrived and went in with John. After a pizza break and some time playing an AX40 and another silo, everyone was heading upstairs for the session and we were given VIP passes to get seats (really grateful for that).

Don Lappin from Berklee put on a session and was unbelievable. I don't know how BP finds players like this, but he really does find the best of the best. His 2 hand melodic tapping/playing has to be seen (see the videos if you have not already).

BP came on next and did some preliminary background and brought on JP. There were lots of questions from the (mostly Berklee) audience and we learned some good stuff. Basics and alternate picking with a metronome were John's consistant messages. He did a lot of examples from scale and notes-on-a-string training to a bit of signal path gear to demos with a backing track. The off-the-cuff solo building showed his true knowledge and skill. He really, really stresses basics (which is sending me to a Berklee video lesson that I've been ignoring).

Following the session, BP met with us knuckleheads for a bit and then the signing got going. The line was all through the store (my pic only shows a small part of it) and everyone was cool and patient. Us knuckleheads all somehow ended up in the premium room. My son waited right to the end, then got in line and picked up some signed photos and a poster and BP asked if he wanted some pics.....he said sure....and he came back over with probably 25 picks. :D He felt very welcome and was able to spend some time with both BP and John.

Us knuckleheads and GC people and John were hosted by BP for some casual food and we had a chance to get to know the other knuckleheads a bit more. As it turns out, Glen, Lou and I all live within about a 20 mile circle. Before my son dozed off into his soup (hahaha), we headed home. I have a few phone pix....sorry for the quality....this camera phone thing is new to me.

Oh......did I forget to tell you about playing the double hum, mahogony body, rosewood neck red Al? Or all the cool colors it will come in? Oh....I guess I did..... Really nice playing piece....which further confuses my choices between an Al and a Silo.

Someone did snag it. I asked him if he was a member on the forums and he said no. So we probably wont see any pics. He showed it to me that night. It was great. Like BP said, the pics here did it no justice. Congrats to the guys who got the other two.

Here some pics of the clinic last night:

Wow, a new JP? I'm excited! Even though I won't be able to get one haha. Is that new black one that JP is using a prototype?
