EBMM Stingray 5 pictures by WinstonTK - Photobucket

A couple of weeks ago, and after contemplating it for awhile, I felt I just had to have a Stingray5. So, I headed down to the store to try them out. (Actually, truth be told, I had been trying them out for a couple of weeks prior.) When I got there, I tried out a really nice natural finish one with a maple board. It was great, but it was a bit pricey for me. Then, I noticed that they also had one of the new Ibanez ATK305's in stock. So, I tried it out and was very impressed. I loved the feel of the neck on that bass, and it was only one-third the price of the SR5. I carefully A/B-ed both basses for almost half an hour and decided that I was going to give the ATK a try. So, that's what I walked out of the store with that day.

I enjoyed the ATK. I really did. But, the original call of The Stingray just wouldn't leave me in peace. So, after two weeks of reconsidering, and obsessing, I decided I was going to return the Ibanez and get a Ray.

Yesterday right after work I headed down to the store to make the swap. But, when I got there, the clerk drew my attention to a brand new specimen hanging on the wall. I tried it out, tested it against two other Rays that were very enticing in their own right, then finally decided that the new one was The One. So, I bought it.

The extra expense was worth it. I love this bass. And, it's a great addition to the other two Stingrays I already own (a black fretted SR4H and an unlined fretless honeyburst SR4H).

I can hardly wait to rehearse with the new SR5 this weekend!

Hey, Smak.

Yes, it was at the Terminal Ave. L&M. They also had a nice 20th Anniversary SR5 HH in stock. I tried it out, too. It sounded great but I felt that it was a tad too heavy so I nixed it from the running. The clerk there, Jean, is a great guy. He was extremely helpful (as he always is). Overall, another very favourable L&M experience.

Its a great bass that one may of been a bit heavyish but I thought it sounded good...I have played about 3 of them.
