Hello, has anyone had the problem of sweat under the clear pick guard on a Steve Morse Y2D. The only way to clean it is to remove the pick guard. Any ideas?

Stop sweating...hehehe I'm just joking. Welcome by the way and congrats on a great guitar first off. Now for that issue, I dont think there is anything else you can do other than to remove the PG and clean it once in a while. You can wear a sweat wrist band and dry yourself time to time to prevent it from dripping under the pg.

Try cutting a thin strip from a tee shirt that is close to the color of your Y2D the length of the pick guard, and use a Q-Tip to seal it and form a lining. That is the best I can come up with off the top of my head, but it should work and one Tee should last a long time as you can make a 100 strips.lol

You guys crack me up. :D

Just get under the pickguard with some cleaner polish and a rag every now and then. No need to make anything more complicated than it already is.

Sweaty pick guard

Thanks for all the suggestions. The moisture will stay and not dry up for weeks and I did not want to remove the pick guard after each gig. The wrist band helped. This is the first guitar I have ever seen that happen to. It is also the first guitar I have had with a clear pick guard!

when lifting up the pickguard be sure to not bend it too much along the outside edges as the pickguard WILL crack if ya pull up too hard. make sure the tubing used as springs for the pickup height adjustment is loose enough. if it is catching on the sides of the cavity , do not pry up on the pick guard to free the tubing.cleaning under the pickguard IS a little difficult if the pickups are sticking to the wall of the pickup cavity. i lift up by holding on to the pickup itself til the tubing is loose and un-stuck. i quite often have to clean excess contact cleaner from under there too. just one of those necessary evils...

Tommy - what do you mean by this ?

Assume Tommy means the cleaner coming thro the back when cleaning the switch contacts and stuff. Trouble is with the clear pickguard is you see all the dust particles, sweat etc stick out liike a sore thumb

Where a lab suit when you play

Cheers

Sweaty pick guard

Thanks again! This is a great forum. I guess cleaning under the pick guard is a small price to pay for a great guitar.
