swirling my music man

hi im new to the forum and live in birmigham england for my sins, aka the ghetto!
i have several guitars that im in the process of swirling and random other activities. here are some pics i hope you like them, ps the swirls are on unsealed, unsanded, unanythinged pieces of wood direct from the tip, so go easy, i was working on a liquid tension experiment swirl a 5150 swirl and various other combos, what do ya think.

here my 5150 swirl colours are a bit thin because these paints are expensive with a capital E! and this was just a test the guitar will look the dogs, or crap if you dont like swirls!

heres my strat body, should have had floyd rose routered first!!!!!

Hey welcome to the forum - Hey Brum's not all bad - just like any UK city really.

Love the work you have done there - there is a forumite (knucklehead) that goes by the name of Norrin Rad who has a great swirl guitar.

I've read a few articles on how to do this and would love to try it myself.
I have access to spray gear to clearcoat it after too!

I have a £25 Strat type guitar that I would love to try something on.
You'll have to give me tips!!

radrock: jebus you have some gits, love the swirl the fede touch if im not mistaken. im trying to get my hand on some glow in the dark paint, quality all the way love the pic of it glowing, beautiful man.

roburado: sorry mate i cant say anything, all i will say is that evertything i do say would be a lie, honest. on a serious note, after my alien abduction incident... no on a serious serious note (a# over any an A major chord ohhh!) its taken me over 3 years of experimentation with lots of paint combos and treatments and tempratures and on and on and thats with net access... theres a awful lot of misinformation out there. if i had 5 dollars for every hour i peed away, while my mates were telling me to give it up. now they all want me to swirl there guitars!.

spudmurph the 5150 is just taped and retaped its a proper strat body but i used some crap sealer, u need to sorce some bad ass rock solid sealer, otherwise you will be left polishing up a turd, ive been there, plenty, preperation is everything, google search, there are loads of companies offering quality sealers and finishes now. stay in touch i would be interested to see how you get on.

Now that I'm done playing hall-monitor/mall security..The swatches you've posted look really kewl .I grew up on Long Island where that stuff kinda took hold..A guy in Babylon did it for products of all sorts in the mid-80's..converse sneakers,handbags,hats etc. etc. Little known fact..Eddie wouldn't accept the guitar..But a swirled Kramer Beretta was given to him backstage on the 1984 tour at Nassau Colisseum .He thought it was gimmicky...The Master of Gimmicks..LOL said it was to gimmicky

hey you guys all sound crazy, i like it, i think i'll stick around. also re the swirls you either like em or hate em i dont think theres a middle ground. and i have to say when there done right i think they can look really cool, but when you finish up a piece of wood with normal grain and it looks like you could put your hand into like its water! its a thing of beauty, natural beauty. too all those who do like them, im trying something new that you may or may not like its harder swirling hence im working on it, swirling is hard enough, i have some sucess but nothing worth posting, if i can get this right it will look the shiiiiit! or again the other side of the coin the other ****ttttttt!

here are a couple more photos of recent swirls one of which took me 2 days to get kinda right, the s o b! they love me at the paint shop! the front has a real big window. anyway photos and less clap trap.
by the way i would never ever swirl a guitar that was maple or something similar, you have to be mad to want to ruin something like that, and i am mad, so that must mean youd have to been raving mad then.

this is a new effect im working on...

on a cooler note ...i dig the art of the swirls and they look great some swirls don't look so good but you got some cool flow going on! i say do what you want but do the headstock as well! hehehehe
