I've been a fan of Switchfoot since their first CD "Legend of Chin" came out. I've also seen them in concert 6+ times over the past number of years. It's funny how you see an artist's gear change. The first couple times I saw Switchfoot, Tim was playing a Stingray through an Ampeg rig. Then, the Stingray changed to a Sterling. Next, the Ampeg rig changed to Gallien Krueger. Now, it's Lakland. I frankly liked him best in the Sterling-Ampeg period, though I haven't seen him live with the Lakland yet. I'm sure the Lakland is a great bass, but I always felt that the Ray/Sterling really defined his sound and tone.

Tim played out of my rig about five years ago when my band opened up for them at a church. At that time he was playing the Sterling/Ampeg rig but he didn't feel like unloading his gear so he played out of my Ampeg B2R head and Sunn 2x15 cab. They were all really nice and he was very appreciative of me lending my rig.I was surprised(in a good way) that Dan Elliot won him over to GK because he was a diehard Ampeg guy for so long.I hope he starts playing his EBMM basses again but to each his own, I guess...........

They played in Dallas last night. The reviewer in the Dallas Morning News didn't comment on the bass being used, but pretty much blasted the band as being lifeless, and dull. It was pretty funny. Something about how he couldn't believe a band that plays such generally happy music could be so depressing to watch.

You know, as I child, I was afflicted with switchfoot, and I have to tell you, it was no walk in the park.

Well, okay, it WAS a walk in the park, but I had to keep switching feet, you see?

Perhaps you don't.

the well neither do I, frankly,

"Why doesn't EBMM make a signature bass? I mean, they make all these signature guitars.........."

My answer from now on is, "THEY DO."

the you just gotta be smart enough to figure out who sterling is,

I know nothing of switchfoot. When I was a lefthanded kid my grandpa called me wrong handed. If you are a switchfoot wouldn't you be wrong footed? If you are wrong you are wrong.

Guess who I think is wrong

Ahh come on now guys...those Laklands are mighty fine machines as I sit here listening to a bootlegged audio cd of the Lakland 10th Anniversary concert right now.

You should have been there...I was front and center with me knees touching the stage baby...LOL

The thing here is that I represent Dan the same way I represent Sterling and I keep my word to both of them and this guy apprentley did not honor his word. They're both my friends and business associates. It's all you have in life really is your word...the rest is just things...

Listening to Jerry Scheff ripping up "LA Woman" right now....Switch who???

Well, it's like in my neighborhood, all the old guys have sports cars and Hummers and Jaguars......who can afford those things when they're young?

I remember when I first read some EB press release that mentioned "Sterling Ball" in it. It hit me like a ton of bricks. That was definitely a cool realization.
