Hello fine folks of EBMM land!

Just recently got my hands on a new to me 2019 Cutlass in Aged Buttercream. Gotta say I am really impressed with the build quality+playability, and the neck is out of this world (both looks and feel wise) This being my first truly valuable guitar, I decided to invest further in to an Ernie Ball strap lock system.

My only question is, do any of you what lies under the knobs that hold the strap in place? Am travelling at the moment and the suspense is killing me. Looks to be a hexagonal bolt(?) of some sort, is there a screw under that? Do you think fitting the EB lock system will be a breeze? Have had some negative experiences with locking systems from other brands due to differences in screw length, so I am hoping that I can use the screws already in place.Sorry if this is a nooby question but dying to know.

I have attached a picture about the part in question. Proud to own this instrument and looking to keep it in tip-top shape!

Thanks for your time!

Weird. It should be a Phillips screw. The EB strap locks come with a new set of screws, which are the same length and thread that the non-locking stock buttons come with. I don't that hex screw is cause for any alarm though.

Yeah I was expecting a Phillips head, got the guitar second hand so maybe someone has already switched them out once. Bit of an oddity to be fair, hoping not to see an absolute unit of a screw coming out. When I get back to the guitar on wednesday all shall be revealed. Other than this the guitar is in absolutely immaculate condition, I get the feeling the first owner rarely played this. Serial number matched up on the serial number verification thing so I have no worries of it being a bootleg Music Man (a Noise Boy if you will). Thanks for your reply!

That looks like the new schaller system. They use a one piece screw//button assembly. Several of those options have very large screw sizes, so you MAY have to get some wood glue and tooth picks to use the EB locks, unless the former owner used the correct size schaller locks.

This are Schaller S locks, arguably the best strap lock system on the planet. There is no way I'd replace that with anything else, all my guitars except my Parker Fly have them.

I used to use the old Schaller system but unless you used thread locker and/or were conscientious about tightening the fixing nut, there as always a possibility of the that nut coming off and when it happens on stage the guitar hits the floor and the nut is lost. It was also clunky and noisy. The EB Super locks have the fixing nut underneath the lock button which is a lot safer. The new Schaller S-locks are excellent, but EB solved my problems a few years earlier than the S-locks came out. EB all the way for me!
