Take that grunge!

Grunge had some good songs but the fact that it effectively killed off the greatest bands of all time (RATT, Winger, Dokken, etc) can never be forgotten or forgiven - especially when you've got an Axis in one hand, a beer in the other and an hour to kill...

So I've thrown together my "tribute" to grunge and called it "Kurtailed" (geddit?). Basically I've taken Teen Spirit and improved it. The main "heavy" riff is now much chunkier and a mixture of fast licks, wah, harmonics, tapping and floyd divebombs have been applied. In the spirit of grunge I threw it together in a haphazard way (the beer really helped here!) - I'm sure fans of bands like Tad, Mudhoney and so on will approve! There is also a little musical quote on the end that you may recognise - showing that grunge couldn't kill arena rock!!!

We definitely "get it", but there are good and bad bands with ANY genre. I'm not a huge fan of grunge by any stretch, but Pearl Jam is one of my favorite bands ever. They are superb songwriters, but that's what grunge was trying to focus on more than the playing aspect. It didn't always work, but sometimes it did. I also think Alice In Chains wrote some really great songs, not to mention Jerry was a EB player. I'll leave it at that.

Yeah - don't get me wrong I love plenty of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden stuff. I just think that "Teen Spirit" has now taken on that kind of "untouchable" status a bit like Stairway to Heaven did for older rockers. So I though I'd mess with it a little bit - smash your idols and all that. I'm sure Kurt would be proud of my attitude, if not my actual guitar playing!

I thought Jerry Cantrell was given a EBMM guitar by Ed and while he did use it, he was mostly endorsing and using G&L guitars. If I'm wrong could you enlighten me? Thanks.
