I heard that song, "I've got a room at the top of the world tonight", whatever it's called, and I thought, okay, that's proof that Tom Petty can now release ANYTHING as a single and it will be played on the radio.

And I generally like Tom.

Regarding the original subject of this thread, the hijack is because there's just not much left to say about it, you know?

Don't think hijack, think "re-direct"...

Running Down a Dream irritates me, but man, Damn the Torpedoes is definitely one for the 'A' list in my book! :)

I hear ya. I'm not complaining, or looking to start trouble.

Just in case anyone is interested (and this is the last time I'll mention this here), I asked on that forum why they took down the MM section. They reluctantly said because of the problems with certain people not getting along. I told them I thought it was unfair being as I'm an innocent bystander and all that why shouldn't I be allowed to discuss MM basses on an open forum just because of a few people's problems. They basically said too bad. But they did threaten to open a "miscellaneous forum" where you could talk about MM if you wanted to.

So I promptly closed my account and deleted the bookmark.

I used to moderator that particular Music Man forum, amongst other things, and I think that forum became superfluous once the official EBMM Forum took off.

I know my view might be biased, but if you want to talk about Ernie Ball Music Man instruments, could there be a better place to do it?

When I was in my late teens, my mom bought tickets and took me to a Tom Petty Arena show in Cleveland. I had a reasonable relationship with her at the time, but let's be real, who wants to go to a rock show with their mom at that age? Wasn't a huge Petty fan at the time, but some of his tunes were ok by me.

There was a middle aged woman sitting right behind us, freaking out before and after every song. The three 20 yr old dudes behind her were getting annoyed and made some smart comments to her. Half way through the show, they were sharing a doobie and became good friends.

The show was great. Good live energy from the band even from 300 rows away, and a good song selection. My eyes were bloodshot when I got home (was and am not a smoker) but was a fantastic time.

Excuse me, I need to go heavily sob in private offline now.

I wasn't a big fan of his early stuff. I thought he sang to high for his own good. Like his later stuff. "Into the Great Wide Open" is my favorite song by him.

Before the poop hit the fan, I looked at someones myspace page. It told me everything I needed to know. That was stay away, big storm a brewing.
