Wow! Sounds like some angst over there. Especially since BP and I share the same type ride. Apology accepted. I have always had excellent experiences from Fords – I guess they just shipped the bad ones to you. Whatever – this is not a car buff site – though you can email me on car stuff if you like.

Back to the Bongo dilemma in question. The idea was to try out an HS and compare the tonal differences to the HH I have. I still have not found a Bongo HS in striking distance to try out. At least nobody came forward. And no stores. That is really getting silly. I even reached out to Russo in NJ, not very responsive folks, but nothing in stock now.

I do have a C****n LB75P with a MM style pickup at the bridge and a jazz like single coil at the neck. Would the differences in sound be similar? I guess that is quite a reach. I also thought about trying some of the StingRays or Sterlings they have in stock at GC – but now we have different electronics and pickup magnets to recon with.

Is the blue paint in the "Blue Dawn" the same as the blue paint in the "Electric Blue"?

How much would it cost to repaint the truck this colour (spelled correctly ;-) Ziggy?

Ziggy,
Is the bass in question used?
If so, it's a no brainer; buy it and if you don't like it sell it (like that's going to happen).

It's a good thing that that color is so easy to find otherwise it would again be a no brainer (as in never pass up a rare color Bongo); sleep well my friend muaaaaaahhhhhhahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Oh - that greanie thingie is realllllyyy nice-nice. The color changing things was over the top. Although the Dargie II owns the fret board choice.

Do NOT buy a Bongo!!!!

Don't even think of it. Do not go to the websites and stare longingly at the pictures of the basses.

Who am I kidding?

I'd rather tell you to sell your F150 (looks beautiful btw) than tell you to not buy a Bongo.

Just buy it
:D

I Failed to Resist

I caved in today. Well - it is my B-Day...

Picture is from the Bass Central website. I will post pics with the F150 after I get it. I somehow resisted the 2 day shipping. I play Friday - hope I get it in time.... Well, there is the week after if I don't.

Here It Is!!!!!!!!

Well – here it is!!!!!!

The angle of the light really changes the hue of the color. But if it is not the same paint then I don’t know what else to say. Even the grain of the metallic particles is the same. I did a couple of shots holding part of the bass against the truck so the light hits it the same.

I have not got the strap yet. Like all my basses the strap gets screwed on so it is hard to get off. Too many times I have got a tuning peg in the eye or had to grab a bass that was falling. Forget strap locks – they wear out and break to. And I am not even that crazy on stage – though one person said I move about like a caged cat. Each strap matches the bass. So, the Desert Gold one is a bit washed out in this pic, but it really is on.

No! I do NOT want to find out if Lava Pearl is the same color as the red Edge next to the truck! Don’t even hint at it! It’s the wife’s car anyway. However, a purple Bongo? Hmm – the color of the Probe is “Wild Orchid” from 1994 (hint-hint).

I am working on a review between the HH and HS with sound clips. Is there any way to post MP3s on the InterWeb and link to something like this?

More later!
