Hi guys,

I've been trying the past week to do some two handed tapping on my Bongo.

I can't seem to bring out the high notes one the bass. 12th fret onwards.

I keep hearing this ugly zing sound everytime i hit the notes. Like the strings keep hitting the fret wire.

Any idea how I can improve this? Technique wise or setup wise? Or any other suggestions.

Thanks guys!

You'll need to raise the action a little and put a fluffy hair band around the first fret to stop unwanted vibrations. See how Alvabass does it in his videos here:

Alva is the man in the know when it comes to this, I'm still messing around with eruption haha. One important thing is also to always practice tapping with an amp, as otherwise even a huge amount of squeegies won't save you.

I never knew about the squeegies.

But I kinda need to slap half way into the piece as well. So that leaves the action pretty low. I managed to get the tapping out with another bass. And the action was low. But the tone from that just sucked.

And if the squeegie is on the first fret, I cant use it right?

I practice straight into the board. I have a home studio that's why.
