Today I changed the strings that came with my Sub1 guitar I bought about 2 weeks ago. The shop put 10-46 on it and I wanted to change them for Ernie Ball's Slinky top heavy bottom strings.

When I was finished changing the strings I did a check if everything was correct. Then I noticed a tear on the string nut at the low "E" string. :( I don't know how it happend, but the string nut probably didn't like the "heavy" bottom.

Now i'm trying to figure out what i can do best. Go back to the shop? Send a mail to the EBMM customer service?

Do you guys have any advice? I rather don't want to wait until the whole nut is teared. ;)

What exactly do you mean "a tear in the string nut"? Maybe a pic would help. And yes you should contact customer service.

The tear is at the black little line. It's about 1/2mm wide.

Argh, its frustrating when you want to explain something in a other language but dont know the right words... :(

Yup a crack/split. The nut is still fixed to the neck, but yes a split/crack. i can see a split if i look from the front or back of the neck

(Finally, the words i was looking for, thanks Jodizzle. :) )

@larryandrews: I live in the Netherlands, so that number will probably not work. But thanks anyway, i really appriciate it.

You need a new nut! Don't worry, it can be done.

Contact: Peter Van der Leelie (I promise that's his name) at Voerman Amersfoort

This is our distributor for the Netherlands. If you need help getting ahold of him just PM me.

All this is brought to you by your good friends at Ernie Ball, special thanks to Beth in the International/Exports department. ;)
